FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Any boy or girl in 3rd– 6th grade is welcome to participate in the league season.
Blue Jay Basketball strives hard and takes pride in keeping the registration costs as low as possible. Costs will vary for each program registration.
Enrollment fees go towards (and includes) uniforms, equipment, official fees and costs associated with gym rentals for practices and games.
The league is broken into two divisions for both boys & girls. Each division will have team(s) for 3rd Grade, 4th grade, 5th Grade and 6th graders
The Club strives to make each league team as equal as possible. This means there will be
a few players with more experience and skill at this time on each team as well as a few
that are beginners to the game of basketball.
The Club will put on a skills tryout clinic for all incoming athletes to showcase their skills. Teams will then be assigned by the Club.
Team selection provides the opportunity for the more experienced players to work on leadership, accountability & unselfishness by putting them in some different situations than they have faced before.
The players just starting will learn persistence and commitment as they learn the skills of basketball, they can
get better quickly by working on them.
Blue Jay Basketball Club hosts a 5 week Fall League on the weekends in November and December. The Club also hosts a 3 week Summer League in July each summer. Participating teams will play 2 games in a day during league play.
Blue Jay Club invites and hosts teams from the surrounding area to participate in all leagues. This allows opportunity to compete against local programs, allows athletes to gain experience and helps promote a safe competitive environment to learn the game of basketball.
All league games are played on full-size courts with only 1 game at a time in a gym facility. All games are assigned and officiated by two paid game officials.
Tournament season is typically played January through February. It is designed to be more competitive in nature. The number of tournaments will vary depending on the team/coach preference and number of tournaments each team chooses to enter.
Any boy or girl in 3rd– 6th grade is welcome to be considered for the tournament season but not guaranteed a spot on a team.
This will be more competitive in nature and allows higher skilled players the opportunities to compete against other teams in tournaments. Playing time
during the tournament season is not guaranteed to be equal.
Teams will register to play in local weekend tournaments giving the opportunity to play competitively against other clubs and town teams.

The goal is to have no team with more than 10 players on a team. To make these numbers work (i.e. if we have more than 16
interested), there may be a selection process that will be conducted by the board members
of the Club with the input of the league coaches following the league season.
Summer League is designed to give kids the opportunity to maintain and build their basketball skills over the summer.
Summer League play is similar to our Fall League where we invite surrounding teams from other communities to play in a 3-4 week league. Games are played one night a week. Each game night will consist of playing 2 games.
Parents and community members who volunteer will be considered for coaching opportunities.
Background checks are completed on all coaches to ensure the safety of all participants.
Coaches much sign a Coaching Code of Conduct that holds coaches accountable for their actions while coaching to meet the mutual goals of the Blue Jay Basketball Club.
Many of our volunteer coaches are parents of existing players. Parents can request to volunteer coach when signing up their players in a program.
We also have community members coaching teams who do not have kids actively participating. Please email the club directly at bjbasketballclub@gmail.com if you would like to coach but do have kids participating in a program.
Blue Jay Club League games are played on full courts hosted at Bondurant-Farrar Schools including Morris Elementary, Anderson Elementary, Intermediate School and Junior-High School.
Games are played on full-size courts with only one game occurring in a gym at a time.

Yes - Blue Jay Basketball Club hosts a boys tournament and girls tournament for teams in 3rd through 8th grade. This tournament is typically hosted the first weekend of February in Bondurant.
