History of Blue Jay Basketball Club

Blue Jay Basketball Club, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2014 in Bondurant, Iowa, was founded to address the need for a structured youth basketball program that fosters fundamental skill development and a deep understanding of the game within the local community. Before its inception, youth teams faced challenges such as forming their own groups, seeking opportunities outside the community, or entering junior high without prior basketball experience. This placed a significant burden on junior high programs and coaches, who had to prioritize basic instruction over program development for long-term success.

Since its founding, Blue Jay Basketball Club has expanded significantly, now serving over 200 youth athletes from 3rd to 6th grade in Bondurant. With a strong emphasis on fundamentals, quality repetitions, and meaningful exposure to the game, the club provides year-round opportunities for skill development. By keeping young athletes engaged and building a strong foundation, the organization contributes to the sustained growth and success of basketball within the Bondurant-Farrar Community School District.
